ADMISSION POLICY

1. Introduction
Dayspring Model Academy is committed to providing quality education in a nurturing and
disciplined environment. This Admission Policy outlines the procedures and terms for student
admission and enrollment, including financial obligations and institutional expectations.

2. Admission Eligibility
• Admission is open to all students regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or
background, provided they meet the academic and age requirements for the desired class.
• The minimum age for Nursery admission is 2 years.
• Admission into other classes is subject to available space, assessment
performance, and review of previous academic records.

3. Admission Procedure
• Interested parents/guardians must complete and submit an admission
application form.
• Applicants may be required to take an entrance assessment (Primary and
Secondary levels).
• Successful applicants will receive an admission letter indicating the class of
placement and fee structure.
• Admission is confirmed only upon payment of the non-refundable admission
and development fees and submission of required documents.

4. Admission and Other Fees
a. Non-Refundable Fees
• The admission fee, development levy, and application form fee are nonrefundable, regardless of whether a student completes a full term or school year.
b. Tuition and Termly Fees
• Tuition and other termly fees (including PTA, uniforms, books, and activity
fees) must be paid in full before resumption each term, unless a formal payment plan has
been approved by the school management.

5. Unpaid Fees
• Students with outstanding school fees may be denied access to class, exams, or
school activities until full payment is made or a written payment agreement is in place.
• Examination results, report cards, and transcripts will not be released to students
with unpaid balances.
• The school reserves the right to withdraw admission or deny re-admission for
the following term if fees remain unpaid without reasonable cause.
• Legal action or external collection procedures may be initiated for chronic nonpayment.

6. Payment Methods
• Payments should be made directly to the school’s approved bank accounts or
via official payment channels.
• Receipts must be collected and retained for every transaction.

7. Required Documents for Admission
The following documents must be submitted before admission is finalized:
• Completed admission form
• 2 passport photographs
• Copy of birth certificate or affidavit of birth
• Previous academic records or transfer certificate (for Primary/Secondary levels)
• Immunization/medical record (for Nursery and Early Years)
• Parent/guardian valid ID (copy).

8. Re-admission Policy
• A student who withdraws or is absent for a full term or more may be required
to undergo re-assessment.
• All outstanding fees must be cleared before re-admission is considered.

9. Withdrawal and Transfer
• Parents who wish to withdraw their child must give at least one month’s notice
in writing.
• No refund of fees will be made for withdrawals after the term has started.
• Transfer certificates will be issued only when all dues are cleared.

10. Code of Conduct Agreement
All parents/guardians must sign the Parent-School Agreement which outlines school rules,
communication guidelines, and discipline procedures. Admission implies agreement with all
school policies, including updates made periodically by management.

11. Review Clause:
This Admission Policy is subject to periodic review by school management. Parents will be
informed in writing of any significant change.

All prospective families can either go through our online registration process or request hard-copies of application forms. Once you have completed the online form or the hard-copy you would need to come to the school with the following to complete the registration process: 

  • 1. Two passport-sized photos
  • 2. Original birth certificate or passport of the child
  • 3. Original birth certificate, ID Card or passport of one parent
  • 4. Medical records.

Application fee of D1,000(One thousand dalasi) payable at the school (subject to review)

Entry into Nursery and Reception does not require an entrance assessment. 

Entry into Primary and Secondary sections require an entrance Exam.

Please note that all offers are made subject to the availability of places and age range. Meeting the cut-off point on the entrance Exam will automatically guarantee admission.

Admission

Junior School (Nursery to Year 6)

 Entry into the junior school is normally in the nursery class. 

Nursery places are only offered to children who are three years old on or before 31st August of the start of the academic year for which admission is sought. 

Subject to availability of places admissions will take place in Years 1 to 6 for the 2024/5 academic year without entrance exams. (Subject to review)

High School (Forms 1 to 3)

At the moment, pupils in Year 6 in the Junior School progress to Year 7 (Form 1) provided they have met the prevailing progression criteria set by the school.

Admission to Forms 4 and 5 is reserved for the Academic year 2025/2026 and beyond.

PLEASE NOTE: An offer of a place will be confirmed in writing outlining the place offered, fees and payments due and payment deadline. The offer letter is valid only if signed by the Headteacher.  

Admission Criteria 

Admission to the Nursery and lower Primary Schools are exam entrance-free, however, a student transferring from another school will be assessed to determine where he/she is in his/her learning to enable the school to assist where necessary to raise that child’s level to that of the school’s children. Admission to the High school is subject to admission Exams for Forms 1 to 4

Admission Procedures 

Offers for Nursery places starting in September will be made in August. 

Offers for other year group places for September entry, will be made in July.

Admission may be made throughout the school year, subject to admission criteria and procedures.

Parents receiving an offer must accept by completing and returning the relevant acceptance form to the Front Desk Office by the date specified in their offer letter. 

Failure to return a fully completed acceptance form by the specified date may result in the place being withdrawn and offered to a pupil on the waiting list.  

Upon receipt of the acceptance of offer, you will be issued with an invoice for payment of all due amounts by a set date. Failure to make payment on or by the date specified may result in the place being withdrawn and offered to another student. 

Nursery and Reception

Children in the Nursery class will start on the first day of term, Reception class will join 2 days later. This will allow children, parents, and teachers to manage the first days of nursery. Parents are allowed to spend some time in the morning with unsettled children until they acclimatize with their new environment. 

Transfers into the Junior School

Movement of children to new classes is made at the end of the school year. Any available place from Reception to Year 6 will be given to children who applied in line with the selection criteria outlined in this policy.   These children will be tested in Basic Math and English to determine their reading, comprehension and writing skills. 

Admission into the High School

The High School career begins at Form 1 and ends at Form 5. Children from Year 6 in the Junior School move to Form 1 in the High School provided they have met the prevailing progression criteria set by the school. 

Students seeking admission to the High School, subject to admission criteria outlined above, will take the entrance assessment. 

Readmission

If a student leaves the school while owing school fees or the school withdraws their place for nonpayment of school fees, they may reapply to be admitted back to the school. Such a student will have to go through the prevailing admissions procedure and will have to pay a term’s fees as a refundable security deposit if admission is offered. The deposit will be refunded when the child leaves the school and all financial obligations have been settled.

Tuition discount

Parents registering more than 3 of their biological children are entitled to a 20% tuition discount for their 4th child and a 30% tuition discount for their 5th child.
